How to get through MAY without losing your mind

May comes in hot—and if you’re not ready, it will run you over. Between birthdays, baby showers, graduations, Mother’s Day, banquets, and end-of-year school madness, the calendar fills up fast. But here’s the thing: you don’t have to ride the chaos wave without a life raft.
Here’s how I get through May (mostly) sane:
List Everything. I brain-dump every single event, deadline, and must-do for the month. This clears the mental clutter and gives me visibility into what’s coming.
Add It to the Calendar. My planner and digital calendar both stay updated—because if it’s not scheduled, it doesn’t exist. Seeing it all mapped out helps reduce anxiety.
Create a Budget. May is expensive. I budget for gifts, travel, party clothes, and random fees now so I’m not caught off guard. Planning ahead gives me freedom to enjoy these moments without financial stress.
Say No. I give myself full permission to say “not this time” to anything that doesn’t fit the season or my peace. I don’t owe everyone a yes—and neither do you.
Schedule Downtime. Rest isn’t optional—it’s how I recharge. I protect at least one weekend and a few slow mornings just for me.
May is wild. But with a plan, it’s manageable—and even enjoyable.
