Why Getting Dressed for the Day Boosts My Productivity



I get it. Working from home or chasing kids makes it very easy to stay in PJs all day. But when I actually get dressed, I notice a shift—not just in how I look, but in how I show up.



Why? Because:

  • Confidence = Energy. When I feel put together, I show up differently. My tone is sharper, my energy is stronger.

  • It Signals My Brain: Changing out of loungewear tells my brain it’s time to work. It’s a mental cue that separates chill mode from focus mode.

  • It Reduces the Drag. Feeling good physically keeps me from mentally spiraling. I’m not wondering if I look presentable—I already do.
